 Gulf of Pinarellu

Located 4 km from the village of Sainte-Lucie in Porto Vecchio, the Gulf of Pinarellu is a pretty corner of paradise, home to a small fishing port, a small seaside village and white sandy beaches. At the origin of this port are the Genoese, who created Pinarellu in order to have a navy to export wood and charcoal.

To reach it, from the center of Saint Lucia in Porto Vecchio, take the D168A towards Pinarellu and continue straight for 4 km.

Perched on the Isula di Corsi opposite the Gulf, the square tower of Pinarello monitors the surroundings.

Completed in 1591, it is part of the eight towers of the jurisdiction of Bonifacio. It had to be restored shortly after the Turkish incursion of 1703. Its originality is that it is, with the tower of Porto, the only square tower of the south. It is a work of square plan presenting a slight fruit to From the cord which stood in the middle of the edifice and of which only fragments remain in the east elevation. The terrace which dominates it is surrounded by a parapet and includes a gatehouse in the southeast corner. In the south elevation, the door above the cord became a wide breach. Inside, the floors disappeared. The apparatus of blocks of granite is pierced, in all the elevations, of holes of bakers.

Access:

The walk to the Genoese tower perched on an island is difficult. After following the Pinarello beach and the pine forest, you have to follow the customs path and cross the sea arm (+ 1m deep).

The large bay of Pinarello is bordered by a long and magnificent pine forest at the end of which stands a square tower dating from the 16th century on the island of Pinarello called "Isula di i Corsi". The construction of this Genoese tower began in June 1573. It was placed in front post to prevent and defend against the Barbarian attacks and all the dangers coming from the sea.

La Ruscana beach is named after the white island opposite.

On the beach of Pinarello, close to the seaside village is the Ex-Voto St Joseph. This offering was built in 1950 in honor of St Joseph by Michel Chiocca, a fisherman who escaped from a storm on March 19 (the days of St. Joseph).
